why go to drug rehab in california

Congratulations! You or your loved one has decided to seek help with substance abuse. Now, it’s time to find the right drug rehab center. In actuality, finding the right center for you or your loved one can be difficult. There is so much to consider when seeking addiction treatment: from the cost of treatment, facilities, and location to the quality of treatment.

If you’ve already started your search, you’ll realize that drug rehab California is a wonderful option for when wanting to get sober.

This isn’t surprising. California is home to many exceptional drug rehab centers. The images of beautiful beaches, mountain trails and lovely locations are enough to lure many people to California for treatment.

But is that all what drug treatment centers in California offer? Not at all. At the end of this article, you’ll understand why many people want to go to drug rehab centers in California. But most importantly, you’ll know if a treatment center in California is the best fit for you.

What Is Drug Rehab?

Drug rehab, also known as drug addiction treatment, is a series of rehab programs formed from evidence-based approaches and used to treat addiction.

There are many aspects of drug rehab, as well as many treatment programs. From basic detoxification to the treatment of co-occurring disorders, there’s a treatment program available for everyone.

But drug rehab doesn’t stop at rehab centers; it encompasses all treatment programs used to rehabilitate individuals with substance abuse disorders. One of the most important post inpatient treatment programs is out-patient treatment, and it is a popular drug rehab California option.

Benefits of Going to Drug Treatment Centers in California

The big question is this; why are many people flocking to one of the numerous drug rehab centers in California to get treated for addiction? Below are a few of the benefits of going to drug rehab in California.

  • Location and Landscape

The location of a rehab center is as important as the treatment. Both factors have a bearing on how effective the treatment program will be. Patients at these drug rehab centers are more likely to focus on their healing in a serene location. Luxury centers located in places like Ventura County and Palm Springs offer beautifully serene landscapes.

Aside from the beautiful landscapes, California has many fun places to visit, all thanks to the parks and luxury shopping malls that abound. It can be a treatment and holiday all rolled into one visit.

  • Rehab Centers in California Are More Open Minded

California is one of the most culturally diverse places. Rehab facilities in California are more open to holistic, unconventional, and eastern practices like yoga, meditation, and acupuncture to treat substance abuse.

Why is this important for your journey to sobriety? Well, research has proven that holistic mind-body-spirit treatment is effective in treating substance abuse. If you’re open to trying a treatment program like yoga for addiction, then think drug rehab California.

In addition to these, California has some of the best outpatient rehab treatment centers. Some are even located in the city, making it easier for patients to access and manage their daily activities. What else is better than a great city and a selection of rehab centers operating on the cutting edge of drug rehabilitation therapy programs? Oh, and let’s not forget the cultural richness of the area as well.

Why You Should Go to a Drug Detox Center

When making the brave decision to get sober, some people may wonder why they have to check into a drug detox center. It’s common to think “if I stop buying drugs and using them, I can wait it out at home then go to rehab”. It’s also common to try to look up on the internet what to do when wanting to quit drugs or alcohol. While it is a good idea to research addiction and recovery options online, it’s not a good idea to detox at home.

Detoxification isn’t a straightforward process. Health complications can arise when detoxing, and you probably aren’t equipped to handle them at home.

If you are contemplating if you should detox at home alone as opposed to going to a drug detox center, keep on reading to find out why you shouldn’t.

Today, we’ll be discussing why it is imperative to check into detox facilities when wanting to get sober.

The Dangers of Detoxing Alone

For many addicts, detoxing is the most important stage in their recovery journey. It determines how successful their journey to sobriety would be, and also ensures a safe start to recovery.

You may or may not have read about self-detoxing success stories or stories about someone quitting drugs cold turkey, but this is definitely not safe. It is always a better idea to seek professional help, and here’s why:

  • Some withdrawal symptoms can be fatal

Withdrawal symptoms are a common part of detoxing, and for the most part, they fall within a normal range for most addictions to most substances.

However, withdrawal symptoms from certain substances can be fatal. Withdrawal is different for everyone, and can be different in many cases of addiction.

Thankfully, there are numerous drug detox centers available to help mitigate withdrawal symptoms. Qualified personnel at these facilities know exactly what to do to stay on top of the situation should any emergency occur.

  • Emotional reinforcement

Detoxing is more than just ridding your body of toxins and going through the wringer. Detox also affects emotions, mainly if the person has been abusing substances to deal with psychological trauma.

During detox, such persons might be unable to cope with their trauma and will need emotional counseling.

Also, detox can cause strong emotional reactions like anger and sadness. Counseling also helps the patient deal with it.

Benefits of Going to a Drug Detox Center

Now you know why it is dangerous to detox alone, but what benefits can you expect if you go to a drug detox center?

  • Accountability

It is a tough decision to quit an addiction. A lot of people have tried to quit and failed. Some make it past the detox stage successfully while others relapse. People who use detox centers have a better chance of recovering because the staff and fellow patients encourage and hold them accountable to their goals.

  • Medical assistance

There is access to medical assistance for people who experience painful and potentially fatal symptoms.

  • Fewer stressors

It goes without saying that in a detox facility, people will be exposed to fewer stressors. This means that patients will have a smooth detox process without any hitches due to relapses or external stressors.

Why You Should Detox at Enlight Treatment Center

At Enlight, we offer all the benefits of a professional detox center, including 24-hour care, medical assistance, helpful staff, counseling, and of course, a great environment to focus on detoxifying without any external stressors.

A General Guide To Your Addiction Treatment Options

Okay, so you’ve realized that you have a problem with addiction. Now it’s time to seek treatment. While entering a treatment program may seem intimidating, the truth is that it’s the best way to achieve long-term recovery from substance abuse. It’s also important to realize that modern addiction treatment is not a “one size fits all” approach. Instead, today’s facilities (like Enlight Treatment Center in Moorpark, CA) offer numerous approaches. These different options allow you to tailor your experience to be as effective as possible. With the right treatment, long-term sobriety is a real, reachable goal.

Inpatient vs. Outpatient Treatment

One of the biggest things you will need to decide upfront is whether you want inpatient or outpatient treatment. Both have the common goal of detox and recovery, but they go about it in different ways. Outpatient treatment allows you to come in for sessions during the day and return home at night, often working around your daily schedule. While this may be desirable for many people, it is not the right choice for all. When going through addiction recovery, it is crucial to focus on yourself and what you hope to gain out of your sobriety. This can be challenging when you do not give yourself the right amount of space from your old life. Furthermore, it is important for the initial stages of treatment to be monitored by qualified medical staff for safety. Many “outpatient” facilities still start out with short terms of inpatient care as a result.

For this reason, inpatient treatment is the more effective choice for most. This is especially true when it comes to detox (more on that in a moment) and the initial stages of treatment. This form of treatment involves being admitted to a rehab facility with medical staff on hand, giving you a space to renew yourself in peace. Inpatient treatment allows you to free yourself from outside distractions and really focus on getting better. Inpatient treatment is also more intensive and provides closer, more personal care.

Detox Options

You’ve probably heard that admitting you have a problem is the first step towards recovery. This is true, but the next — and arguably most important — step is actually entering addiction treatment and going through detox. This is where you actually cease your drug abuse (or other substance abuse) and allow your body to go through withdrawal. The detox stage is crucial because drug and alcohol addictions manifest themselves physically. The human body becomes dependent on these substances and even relies on them to feel “normal”. Unfortunately, these same substances also have a negative impact on the liver, blood, kidneys, skin, and more. Because of the physical effects, the detox stage often comes with some unpleasant symptoms as a result of withdrawal. It is therefore important to have qualified medical staff assisting you along the way.

For this reason alone, an inpatient detox process is usually the best choice for someone who is looking to stop using drugs or alcohol. Now, the specific options available to you will largely depend on the type of addiction you have. Those who have been using more intense classes of substances for longer periods of time will need closer medical attention. The detox process may also last longer in these cases.

Keep in mind that as intimidating as the detox process may seem, it is only temporary. Withdrawal symptoms are just a result of the body ridding itself of the toxins it has become accustomed to, and with time you will feel healthier and more alert.

Medical Treatment

The detox process alone is reason enough for medical treatment as part of your treatment. For example, some patients may be at risk of seizures during withdrawal that require the help of experienced detox medical staff.

Even if you do not feel like you are at particular risk for health concerns during your addiction treatment, it is still a good idea to choose a rehab facility with Incidental Medical Services or IMS. These medical services focus primarily on health issues related to addiction and detox, and they are a lifeline if emergencies arise. And in non-emergency cases, medical care during addiction treatment can still help you get through the process as smoothly as possible.

When looking at drug abuse treatment options, it’s easy to focus on the early stages of breaking your physical addiction. But as important as these early stages are, the truth is that they are only the beginning. Incorporating a detailed aftercare program into your treatment plan will be pivotal in ensuring your sobriety for years to come.

A good aftercare program focuses on your new sober life and what you hope to gain from it. For many people, the freedom from addiction means the ability to focus on new hobbies and dreams, reconnecting with loved ones and just getting a new lease on life. Perhaps most importantly, your aftercare treatment program should also help you develop the confidence to turn down future opportunities for substance abuse.

How To Prepare For Rehab

So, it’s official. You’ve made the crucial step of acknowledging your struggle with drug abuse, and you have decided you are going to tackle it head-on by entering a rehab program. If you’re looking for a treatment program at this time, we invite you to reach out to our caring staff at Enlight Treatment Center. We offer dual-diagnosis detox and rehabilitation treatment in a beautiful location in Moorpark, CA. In the meantime, here are some tips you can follow while getting ready to go to rehab:

Make Necessary Arrangements

Going to rehab is necessary for safe, successful addiction detox and learning to live without drug abuse. However, checking in to an addiction treatment program can mean having to change some plans in everyday life. Once you know when you are entering treatment and have an idea of how long it will last, it is a good idea to make appropriate arrangements for everyday life.

For example, you may have to miss some work or planned events. You may even need to make some relatively simple arrangements, like finding someone to take care of any pets or come water your houseplants. If you have bills coming up, either pay them in advance or set up automatic payments.

Make a Packing Checklist

Inpatient rehab programs may sometimes feel like getting to stay at a nice hotel, but don’t forget what you are really there for. In addition to packing regular everyday essentials, you will also need certain items that will help you through the process. That said, you should always check with your program ahead of time to find out what you can and can’t bring with you (certain items will be prohibited).

While every situation is different, here is a general packing checklist you can use:

  • Comfortable clothing – It’s rehab. The last thing you need to worry about is having to spend days wearing anything that isn’t comfortable. Feel free to bring along a pair of slippers too or some sandals. Check the weather ahead of time too, to make sure you are bringing appropriate clothing.
  • Extra underwear – Many people feel more comfortable (especially during the early detox stages) when they can change into fresh underwear more often.
  • Simple toiletries – Only essential toiletries are permitted in most cases. Avoid bringing anything with alcohol in it or with strong scents (this means no nail polish or nail polish remover).
  • A written list of important contact information – You likely won’t have access to your phone for at least the early stages of treatment. It’s a good idea to write (or type and print) down any contact information you might need while there.
  • Your insurance information and medical history – It’s normal to feel overwhelmed and even a bit disoriented when entering rehab, so you’ll want to make a copy of your insurance cards / information and write down any important medical history just to make sure you have it on hand.
  • Extra cigarettes, if you smoke – While you may be looking to quit smoking as well, take one addiction at a time. When ceasing drug abuse, many people find that lesser addictions like smoking can intensify. Others simply turn to smoking as a way to help pass long hours of downtime while in rehab. Do not bring electronic cigarettes.
  • Athletic wear / bathing suit – Rehab is all about freeing yourself and getting healthier. Time to embrace physical fitness! When it comes to swimsuits, go with one that is not too revealing or may be distracting for others.
  • Some cash – You may have opportunities to buy things here and there, but you may not have your full wallet or credit cards on you. A small amount of cash is a good idea.

Feel Encouraged!

You have every reason to be proud of yourself at this time, though you should also know that it’s perfectly normal to feel nervous or even downright scared. But the good news is that you’re not alone; around 21 million Americans are suffering from addiction. And seeing as only about 11 percent even seek out addiction treatment, you’re putting yourself ahead of the curve and ensuring you’re not going to end up as just another statistic.

You should also feel optimistic about your new future that is to come. While life may seem messy right now, you’re about to embark down a path toward fixing it. Soon you will be able to rebuild relationships with friends and family, embrace new hobbies, and improve your work life. It also goes without saying that you will be greatly improving your health.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions

It’s only natural that you may have questions leading up to your addiction treatment and even throughout your time in rehab. Don’t be afraid to express yourself as needed. We also invite you to reach out to us at Enlight Treatment Center with any concerns or questions you may have. We’re here to help!

IMS: What It Is and What Are its Benefits?

Issues related to mental health impacts millions of people across the country each year. Unfortunately, there are countless individuals and families who go without necessary mental health resources every day. This can lead to a number of serious complications that can make it hard for that individual to maintain relationships with family members, friends, and employers. While there used to be a stigma surrounding issues related to mental health, this veil is starting to lift. Now, there are resources available for people who struggle with addiction, substance abuse, and mental health disorders. One of the resources to know about is called incidental medical services, often shortened to IMS.

What is IMS?

Incidental medical services, also known as IMS, are services provided during detoxification at a residential inpatient facility, that are equipped to deal with any medical issues that may arise during this process. Sometimes, these medical issues can even be life-threatening. For this reason, IMS services are implemented to make sure that people can get through detoxification safely. With IMS services, individuals have access to trained medical professionals, who are going to be with them onsite during detox, to provide assistance 24 hours per day, seven days per week. IMS services do not provide primary care that one would find at a general practitioner’s office.

What are the Benefits of IMS Services for Addiction Treatment?

There are several benefits that come with IMS services when someone is seeking help for substance abuse and addiction treatment. First, IMS services are going to allow an inpatient facility to collect clients’ medical history. Just because the primary focus is on helping someone recover from addiction does not mean that there aren’t other medical issues that might impact one’s health. If someone has type 1 diabetes, they are still going to need to count carbs and take insulin during their stay at an inpatient facility. IMS services will allow treatment centers to make sure this happens.

IMS services can provide individuals who need to take other medications with the supervision they need. Even prescription medications have the potential to be dangerous. Some people end up addicted to them. IMS services ensure clients take their medication as prescribed.

The biggest benefit of IMS services is that it allows the facility to monitor a client’s health status, and to make sure that the person does not require a transfer to another facility. For example, the withdrawal process regarding alcohol and benzodiazepine can be life-threatening. Both of these conditions can lead to seizures while a client goes through withdrawal. While it is possible to break seizures, some seizures require incredibly dangerous medications to remain at bay. In this case, a client may need to be transferred to a hospital. If this happens, IMS services will make sure the situation is handled properly.

Finally, IMS services are there to make sure that clients are as comfortable as possible as they go through the recovery process. Clients are going to be evaluated regularly to make sure that nothing else is needed to make them more comfortable. Pain medication, anti-inflammatory medications, and other treatments can be used to increase someone’s comfort level as they go through these first few steps of the addiction treatment process. With IMS services and trained medical providers, addicts will have the ability to make it through some of the toughest times of addiction treatment.

Addiction Treatment: How To Find The Right Program For You

As addiction and substance abuse rates rise, so do treatment options. Addiction is consuming and can be fatal. If you or a loved one is struggling, get the help that you deserve. Addiction can manifest in many ways, therefore there are a ton of different treatment options available for those seeking help. It may seem daunting trying to pick a treatment program. It may even be so intimidating that you don’t want to look. We’re here today to break down the different kinds of treatment options to help you find the right help.

What is Addiction Treatment?

Addiction treatment is the term used to describe focus, specialized treatments, that are designed to help people break the bonds of addiction. Many people who suffer from addiction usually try to quit drugs or alcohol on their own but are unsuccessful. The relapse rate for someone trying to quit on their own vs. getting professional help is much higher. During addiction treatment, you learn why you became addicted in the first place and you’re given the skills to learn how to live a drug or alcohol-free life.

Levels of Care

Similar to the way a hospital operates, there are different levels of care for addiction treatment. This is a common term you’ll see a lot when researching treatment programs. These levels of care are appropriate at different points in time. Just as a hospital has a regular floor, an intermediate unit, and an intensive care unit, addiction treatment is also broken up into various stages. In order to find the best treatment for you, you’ll first need to understand the different levels of care and when they should be used.

Detoxification, also known as detox, is the process of riding your body from drugs or alcohol. This is where many addiction treatment journeys start because detoxing on your own can be intense, and depending on what substance you’re addicted to, even fatal. It can be difficult to get past the first few days of detox without relapsing when you do it on your own.

During detox, you’ll experience withdrawal symptoms. When you gave detoxification services, doctors are present to make you feel as comfortable as possible, ensuring you don’t relapse or hurt themselves in the process. Detox can take place at a detox facility or inpatient facility. If you’re not sure whether or not you require detox, you can ask the facility and they’ll let you know.

Residential Inpatient Facility

At an inpatient facility, you’ll spend 24 hours per day, seven days per week at the treatment center. You sleep there, go to meetings, and receive therapy from professionals. Types of therapy include group and individual sessions. Programs often also offer alternative therapies such as yoga or meditation. Although the length of the program can vary, most inpatient programs are 30 days. This option is great because there is close supervision and you’ll be completely removed from the environment that led to your addiction in the first place.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)  are generally recommended after leaving an inpatient facility. The program is similar to inpatient treatment but you don’t stay at the facility; you spend several hours a day there. You participate in group and individual therapy. You attend meetings and continue to discuss treatment options with doctors. IOP is a great first step to take after leaving inpatient treatment. You get the chance to gradually adjust to life after inpatient, instead of being thrown right back into society. Think of it like a full-time job. You spend the majority of the day there to do the work to remain sober, then go home to make yourself dinner.

Outpatient Programs

The foundation of outpatient programs are the same as IOP but each session is less time. Instead of spending several hours at outpatient, you’ll be there for 2-3 hours. Outpatient is a great option to do after IOP. You can continue to receive group and individual therapy. You can also continue to learn the coping skills to remain sober during outpatient.  It’s also a great option for people who need help but are the only caregiver for their children. If you can’t take off of work for a prolonged period of time or have other personal obligations, outpatient could be the option for you to pursue to get sober.

SMART Recovery 101: Benefits & More

Mental health issues are among the most serious medical problems facing the healthcare system today. There are millions of people across the country who deal with a mental illness every day. Even though some people think mental illness is a sign of weakness, this is not the case. Thankfully, the stigma is starting to evaporate. This has led to the development of new addiction treatment options that can help everyone on the road to recovery. It is important to take a well-rounded approach to the treatment of any mental health disorder, including addiction. One tool that everyone should know about is called SMART Recovery. This treatment option can be used as a part of a well-rounded treatment strategy that can go a long way toward helping people not just get sober but stay clean as well.

What is Smart Recovery?

SMART Recovery is a new treatment tool that can be used to help people treat various forms of addiction and drug abuse. This tool was developed by professionals with a tremendous amount of experience in the field. Similar to other programs that have had success, SMART Recovery uses a series of steps through which people will work toward getting clean and staying sober. This treatment tool has been used with success in the treatment of various forms of addiction. It can be used along with counseling, group sessions, therapy, and medication to help people tackle their mental health issues. It is important for everyone looking for help with addiction treatment to know about SMART Recovery.

How Does SMART Recovery Work?

SMART Recovery is a novel treatment program that can be used to help people combat addiction and reach sustained sobriety. In order to follow the path that has been mapped out using this recovery method, there are a few steps that everyone will need to follow. These include:

Finding Motivation: The first step on the road to recovery is finding the motivation that is needed to change. It is critical for everyone to want to change for the right reasons. They need to do it for themselves. This is the focus of the first step. Without the right motivation, sustained sobriety will not be possible.

Coping Mechanisms: The next step is to learn about the various coping mechanisms that can be used to help someone sustain sobriety. From time to time, people are going to have the urge to use again. It is critical for everyone to know how to cope with these urges in a healthy way. This is an important part of staying sober.

Manage Emotions: Once people know how to deal with urges that come up from time to time, it is critical to focus on stress management and other emotions that will pop up from time to time. The urges to use often develop as a result of stress. Therefore, it is important for everyone to know how to deal with this stress. This is the focus of the third step.

Healthy Life: The fourth and final step of this program is learning to live a balanced, healthy life. This is where people learn how to create constructive habits that will eliminate the root cause of their addictive behavior in the first place. This type of balance will help people not only maintain sobriety but also rebuild relationships with family members, friends, and coworkers.

Why is it So Beneficial for Addiction Treatment?

This treatment method has already been beneficial for so many people. There are a number of reasons why. First, this treatment program maps out a plan that people can follow. By progressing through these various steps, people will have tangible success to which they can point.

Even though this treatment program has clearly defined steps, they can still be tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. Some people might not realize this, but everyone’s root cause of addiction is different. Therefore, the treatment plans are going to vary as well. What works for one person might not work for someone else. The ability to customize these treatment plans is a major part of their success.

Finally, this treatment plan works because of the professionals who administer it. It is important to ask for help during the recovery process.

Why You Should Seek Addiction Treatment In California

addiction treatment in california

More than 15 million Americans struggle with addiction. Different treatments can help people overcome addiction and lead a healthy, goal-oriented life. Here’s what you need to know about addiction treatment in California.

Why Seek Addiction Treatment Out of State?

Seeking addiction treatment out of state may be better than local treatment for some people because it gives them a chance to escape familiar surroundings and faces and heal completely. Out of state addiction treatment:

•Helps people recover fully
•Increases the chances of someone completing the program successfully
•Allows individuals to choose their location
•Provides more opportunities to find the best treatment program

When people are away from familiar environments and surroundings, they are more likely to endure a full recovery because they aren’t around constant triggers. When individuals are taking out of their comfort zone, they can focus their full attention on recovering and setting goals to achieve once they complete the program. People who can choose their location are more comfortable about enduring a recovery program for an extended amount of time.

Why Choose California for Addiction Treatment?

There are tons of addiction treatment centers in the US, but none of them compare to the treatment programs in Ventura County, California. The Land of Milk and Honey, also known as The Golden State, has beautiful scenery and vacation-like weather. With these surroundings, recovery will seem more like a much-needed getaway retreat where people can ease their mind and relax. Our treatment programs are designed to address each individual at their current level and gradually help them achieve higher levels of success throughout their recovery journey. Ventura County has everything individuals need to make a successful recovery from addiction.

How do you Help a Child Whose Parents Engage in Substance Use?

The National Institutes of Health noted that roughly 25% of children who are aged eighteen or younger are a part of a family in which at least one family member engages in alcohol use or is dependent on alcohol. This does not account for those children whose parents use substances other than alcohol or those with a serious substance abuse disorder (SUD).

Offer a safe Haven

If you notice that a child is showing signs such as being afraid to go home or would rather stay at school or be anywhere besides their home, it may be worth looking into their home situation to see if a SUD is present in their parent(s). Most often, it will be a child’s teachers or parents of friends, or neighbors who notice that something isn’t quite right before anyone else will. Whether you fall into these categories or you happen to run into a child who comes to you for help, listen to them. Offer to be a person that they can express their concerns to and let them know that there is someone who is willing to help them. If you are an adult that the child is familiar with, offer to do the same thing and sit and talk with them and be a trusted adult that the child can come to. If you are close with the family or your child is friends with the family, consider having the child over for sleepovers or to spend time with your family so that they can have some extra time away from their home. If you are a teacher, consider helping the child get involved in extracurricular activities that will allow them to do things that they enjoy in a safe place that keeps them away from exposure to the SUD. Family members should consider allowing the child to move in with them if it will be the best option to keep them safe and have a chance at a normal childhood.

Alert Authorities

Situations in which a parent’s SUD is a serious detriment to the health or safety of a child call for you to alert the authorities as to what is going on in the child’s home. No child should have to feel unsafe in their own home, let alone go through experiences that are traumatizing or that lead to the compromising of their well-being. If a child is being neglected, as sad as it is, they may need to be moved to the home of a family member or with someone who can handle raising them while their parents get the help that they need. Many children with parents who engage in substance use often are forced to grow up faster than their peers and may engage in illegal activities such as theft in an attempt to take care of themselves in cases where their parents cannot. There is no reason why a child should ever have to subject themselves to that type of life simply out of necessity, they do not deserve that. As an adult, it is your responsibility to point out these situations to the right people so that they can get help. Doing nothing is just as bad as what is going on in the home, especially if you can help the child.

Seek Support from the Education System

If you are worried about the outcome of contacting the police or Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), then use the school as a resource to get help for the child. Telling the guidance counselor and principal can help alert someone else to the situation, which means that more people will be working to help the child, which is what you want. Furthermore, they may know the correct people to get into contact with and can do so quickly in order to get the child out of that situation. While it is a hard conversation to have, it may save a child’s life and that makes it worth doing. Do not feel guilty for getting help, if the parent(s) with the SUD were in any other state, they would greatly appreciate you looking out for their child and they would probably do the same if they noticed another child going through the same situation. Reach out to those who can do something and get help for the child and then work to help the parent get help as well.
