Center for Addiction and Mental Health

When exploring treatment centers, you may be wondering what resources are available to you.

While your specific treatment center will likely have plenty of resources for you, there are a number of resources available to you after you leave.

One of the major resources for mental health research, substance abuse, behavioral health promotion, and research is the Center for Addiction and Mental Health.

About the Center for Addiction and Mental Health

Originating in Canada, the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is one of the world’s largest resources for mental health and addiction.

The CAMH was founded in 1998 due to a merger between the Donwood Institute, Addiction Research Foundation, Queen Street Mental Health Center, and the Clarke Institute, making it the largest mental health system of its time. They employ around 3,000 physicians, researchers, educators, and outreach staff.

Currently, the center works to provide resources to the general population on substance use, as well as education, programs, treatment access, and policy development.

Mental Illness and Addiction Services Available

Here is a comprehensive list of all services provided by CAMH digitally, many of which are entirely free.

Care

As far as treatment and care go, the CAMH offers a variety of help for receiving services. They offer a large referral network to show you providers in your area and allow you to search for specific needs. They also offer patient rights forms and care planning sheets to map out your treatment needs.

Education

CAMH offers a variety of educational services for those in the healthcare field and those needing to learn more about their addiction and treatment

You can choose from a number of continued education courses, watch simulations, and attend seminars.

The research department at CAMH offers easy-to-understand research for patients. You can search through libraries of digital research articles and videos.

In addition, if you are interested in learning about a specific mental disorder, there are a number of videos and training courses you can review on how to manage your mental illness or substance abuse disorders.
